Program Notes:
This piece explores the challenges of ADHD through the interplay between voice and percussion, symbolizing the mind and body, respectively. The voice portrays the fragmented, impulsive thought processes of a "mind map," while the percussion reflects physical restlessness, alternating between coordination and chaos. Together, they illustrate core symptoms of ADHD, including hyperactivity, excessive talking, impulsivity, distractibility, difficulty re-engaging with tasks, and impaired working memory. Through contrasts and interactions, the composition offers a depiction of the struggles and nuances of living with ADHD.
